Who we are
Edge of Defense is a strategic security consultancy serving families and professionals across the Washington DC metro area. We assess how you actually live, and we tell you what we would change.
Where we come from
Edge of Defense was founded by Tye Wells, a U.S. Navy veteran who has spent three decades teaching weapons handling and personal protection, and as long again working in information security.
Those two threads run through everything we do: what happens at your door, and what happens to your name online. We assess both, because the people who target families and public figures rarely stop at one.
That experience is the qualification. We don't trade on letters after a name. What you're hiring is thirty years of doing the work, on both sides of it.
Why we're advisory and training only
Edge of Defense doesn't install alarms, staff guards, or resell hardware. We assess, plan, train, and advise, and nothing else.
That's a deliberate constraint, not a gap in the offering. We sell no hardware, so nothing in a plan is there to move a product.
We do sell training, and an assessment can recommend it. So every plan says plainly what you could do yourself, what any competent instructor could teach you, and what we would charge.
Where we work
Washington DC metro: Northern Virginia & Southern Maryland. Engagements run on-site or virtually depending on the service.
